Trigeminal neuralgia patient testimonial
I am Ketan Dixit, and I suffered from Trigeminal neuralgia. This is my testimonial of the treatment I received from Dr Jayadev Panchwagh, an Indian Neurosurgeon famous for trigeminal neuralgia surgery in Pune, India.
I would like to share my Trigeminal neuralgia patient experience with you all. I suffered from this horrible disease for nearly four years before I got operated. I was on Trigeminal neuralgia medications like carbamazepine etc, for many years.
My experience with Trigeminal neuralgia medication:
The pain responded to medications initially, but slowly it stopped responding. Then I had to increase doses. But the pain was never really under control. The fear of pain was always there. This caused more distress than anything. Not knowing when I would get the next attack, remembering to take my medications (memory loss was very real because of Tegretol), not relaxing fully at any time of the day…all this was very stressful.
Finding a cure for trigeminal neuralgia:
This got me searching for alternatives to medication for trigeminal neuralgia. While researching Trigeminal neuralgia on the internet, I came across a youtube channel by Dr Jaydev Panchwagh. I was also given the go-ahead by my local doctors here, who knew him.
I contacted him on whatsapp. His team co-ordinator responded immediately, and helped me get an early appointment. My family and I traveled to Pune from Mumbai. We had a long consultation with Dr Jaydev Panchwagh, wherein he explained to me why Trigeminal neuralgia is caused, its symptoms, and its natural course.
Trigeminal neuralgia surgery:
He explained in detail about all treatment options, and why he preferred Microvascular Decompression surgery over other options. The discussion was very relaxed, and I gained tremendous confidence at the end of our first meeting itself.
Of course, we were all a little apprehensive about brain surgery. But we weighed all pros and cons, and decided to go ahead with MVD surgery. I woke up immediately after operation, and the pain was gone, miraculously. I thanked God a million times in my head.
I must say I have received the best treatment of trigeminal neuralgia by Microvascular decompression surgery. It has been a few years since operation and I am completely pain free.
