How does Acupuncture work in treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Acupuncturists find the pattern of disharmony in the patient and create individualized treatments. This is also thought to stimulate the immune system and releasing natural pain-fighting hormones in the body called endorphins.

How effective is Acupuncture in Trigeminal Neuralgia treatment?

Allopathy or modern medicine has very little literature about the effectiveness of Acupuncture. How soon it begins to be effective and how long the effect lasts are both unknown, because there are no large studies published.

Are there any problems associated with acupucture treatment of TN?

Infection, local bruising, Hepatitis B and HIV, rashes, lung punctures etc have all been reported after acupuncture

How does Acupuncture’s effectivity compare with Microvascular decompression?

It is difficult to compare one with the other, because they are two very different procedures. Microvascular decompression at Dr Jaydev Panchwagh’s centre offers a success rate of  nearly 97-98%.

Can Acupuncture be combined with other treatments?

Yes, of course. You should however, consult your acupuncturist and discuss with him/her  your plans before starting a new treatment plan.

Most non-medical treatments are helpful in preventing trigeminal neuralgia attacks, and may therefore be used as adjuncts.  Exercise and Yoga are very good to help relax and decrease stress. They also help in releasing feel-good hormones called endorphins.

Dietary changes and identifying pain-triggering foods and pain-safe foods also can be helpful.

Acupuncture may take a little while to begin working. These  adjunctive treatments could help to tide-over during this period.
